About This Course

You’ll learn everything you need to know about running, and working within, a successful business on this course, giving you a sound foundation for your future within the wide world of business and enterprise.

Starting with understanding the foundations of all successful businesses, you’ll move onto more detailed knowledge of the important facets of business management – including human resource management, financial sustainability, and the legal frameworks.

As you move further through the courses, you will learn how to manage day-to-day challenges that come with setting up and running a business. You will demonstrate your understanding through planning and pitching your business ideas, carrying out yours plans and making them financially successful, analysing business performance and planning for future growth.

If you aspire to be at the head of a large successful organisation, or you are going to be the one who gets the Dragons in the Den to invest in your product, service, or other idea, this course will give you the foundations that can make this happen!!

Entry Requirements

Level 2 Programmes:
Minimum of 4 GCSEs grade 3 (previously D) or above including Maths and English language.
OR Minimum of Level 1 course in Business (or similar) and English language and Maths at Level 1.

Level 3 Programmes:
Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 (previously C) to include Maths grade 5 and English Language grade 3.
Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above including Maths and English language and relevant subject qualification.
Minimum of Level 2 course in chosen subject at merit or above and English Language and Maths at Level 2.

Trips, Visits & Guest Speakers

Students will undertake trips and visits to a range of local and regional businesses in order that they can experience the management of successful enterprises.Students are also encouraged to take part in creating, and managing, start-up businesses as they embed the knowledge they have gained.

What Next?

Progressing to each level of study:

Level 2 courses generally last one year; students following Level 3 will usually complete the Extended Diploma (equivalent to 3 A-Levels) lasting for two years.

Once you successfully completed your course you may be able to progress to the next level, following a satisfactory interview with a Tutor. If you’ve finished your Level 3 course you will be offered advice and guidance from our Career Advisers on how to apply for a place at University through UCAS, or how to apply for a job or an Apprenticeship.
