Building Services Plumbing Studies

About This Course

The tutors are all qualified plumbers and have industry experience, so they can give you great insight into what it’s like to make a living as a plumber. They’ll also be able to teach you key skills such as plumbing systems, the importance of water pressure, pipe joining techniques, hot and cold water supplies and aboveground drainage.

With this course, you will learn all of the practical skills and the theory needed to give you the knowledge for your future as a plumber. Your study programme is tailored around you to include units about the future technology of the industry, employability skills, and personal development making you ideally suited for self-employment, or a wider range of job roles.

Prospects for plumbers are great and they’re always in demand. From soldering pipework, hanging radiators and installing boilers, our qualified and industry-experienced team will be there to guide you every step of the way.

    All courses are of 1-year duration.
Entry Requirements

Entry requirements for our courses depend on the specific requirements of each Programme of Study and an individual’s previous experience, which will all be discussed during the interview process. The following list offers a guide as to what you might be expected to achieve to gain entry on to a particular level of a course.

NOTE IN SOME AREAS THERE IS A HIGHER MATHS OR ENGLISH CONTENT, OR HIGHER TECHNICAL SKILLS ARE REQUIRED, THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS MAY BE HIGHER THAN STATED BELOW. APPLICANTS ARE ADVISED OF ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR INDIVIDUAL COURSES AT THEIR INTERVIEW AND THIS IS CHECKED AT ENROLMENT.

Level 1 Programmes

  • GCSEs grades 1-2

    Level 2 Programmes

  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs grade 3 (previously D) or above including Maths and English language
  • OR Minimum of Level 1 course in chosen subject at merit or above and English language and Maths at Level 1.

    Once you successfully complete your course you may be able to progress to the next level, following a satisfactory interview with a Tutor.

    If you’ve finished your Level 2 course you will be offered advice and guidance from our Career Advisers on how to apply for a job or an Apprenticeship.

  • Work Experience

    At Level 1, students will undertake a range of internal tasks that mimic real-life working opportunities and help you understand the requirements of various job roles

    At Level 2, students will complete several days of experience within local companies. This will provide valuable experience that prepares you for entry into the industry.

    Trips, Visits & Guest Speakers

    Students will benefit from a variety of opportunities to visit local employers (such as Butlins, Fantasy Island, and Haven resorts) and hear from successful business managers, and those running self-employed companies.

    Students may also participate in competitions within the wider TEC Partnership and externally.
