We’re here to help! At Skegness TEC, we have a wide range of information, advice and support services available.

At Skegness TEC we’re committed to supporting all of our learners. We provide a number of services on a wide range of personal, social and academic levels.

If you have a learning difficulty, a sensory impairment, or a physical disability, we will provide you with all the support you need so you can attend, enjoy and achieve on your course.

When you apply to the college, we will meet with you to discuss your learning needs. If you need specialist support, our Learning Support team will ensure you get the dedicated help that you need.

We provide help and support in a number of areas, including:

  • Dyslexia or dyscalculia
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Autistic disorder such as Asperger’s syndrome
  • Hearing or a visual impairment.

Our Learning Support team will also help you if you have a disability affecting your mobility.

We have a dedicated counselling service which offers all our learners the chance to speak confidentially on all aspects of mental health and emotional wellbeing. If you feel like you would like to speak to our counselling team you can refer yourself, or speak to your Programme Leader, Success Coach or the Learner Services team if you would prefer

As a full-time learner, you’ll be allocated a Success Coach who will be responsible for assisting your academic progress and welfare. The Success Coach will be on hand to offer you support, guidance and advice throughout your course and time at Skegness TEC.

You will have regular meetings with your coach where you can discuss your progress and get further support if needed. They will also be able to help with university applications, guiding you throughout the entire process. This ranges from choosing the right course for you, right through to applying for student finance.

The Inclusion Team support service is available to learners offering support and help in the classroom, workshop or with exams. Learners who indicate on an application form that they have a support need will be assessed and offered appropriate support.

Support and help is available with the following:

  • Practical advice and support for physical disabilities and specified learning difficulties such as ADD, ADHD, Asperger’s, dyslexia and other medical or mental health conditions
  • Help to access specialist equipment for your course
  • Support in the classroom and in the wider college environment
  • Support for visual or hearing impairment

The Careers Guidance team at Skegness TEC are here to help you plan the next steps towards your future goals. Our Careers Advisers can provide you with information and advice when applying for jobs, college, university or for an apprenticeship. We provide a high quality, confidential and impartial guidance service. This is freely available to current and prospective learners of any age. Alumni can also access the careers service on request.

At Skegness TEC we have an Intensive Support team who are dedicated to ensuring support is in place for all our learners. Additionally, we have Success Coaches who are frontline safeguarding officers and work closely with the Intensive Support team. All Success Coaches are based in curriculum areas.

Depending on your personal circumstances, you may be eligible for financial support whilst studying at Skegness TEC. We want to make sure that you have all the help and advice you need.

If your household income is less than £33,000 per year, and you apply and approved for bursary support, you may be able to receive help towards your studies. This could include contributions towards travel, meals and childcare.
