Our Electrical Installation courses you will learn about how electrical systems work in machines, as well as wiring electrical equipment and more.

A career as an Electrician has great job prospects and the possibility of a strong salary following the completion of training.

With a need to be physically fit and working on varied sites out and about, it is an active job. Because of the inherent safety issues involved with electrical installations it is tightly regulated by the Government and has a strict set of qualifications that you must achieve in order to work as an Electrician.

The Level 2 course is a great first step into the industry while the Level 3 Technical certificate which can be tagged on to an NVQ.

What you will learn

Level 2

The course modules on the Level 2 include: Health & Safety in Electrical Installation; Electrical Installation Theory & Technology Electrical; Installation Methods, Procedures & Requirements; Electrical Installation Craft Skills; Electrical Science & Principles.

Level 3

Mandatory modules are: Environmental Technologies; Design & Planning; Craft Skills; Testing & Inspection; Fault Finding; Science & Principles. There will also be one extra selected by the centre between Overseeing & Organising Work Environment; BS7671 17th Edition or Portable Appliance Testing.

Electrical Installation is concerned with the electrical circuits and wiring systems for houses and other buildings.

You will also learn about how electrical systems work in machines, as well as wiring electrical equipment and circuits, assembling electrical cable enclosures and wiring and testing electrical panels. Learners will be able to take part in work experience as part of their course.

Entry Requirements

Level 2: No formal requirements but English and maths GCSE grade 4 (previously C) or above are needed for direct entry.

Level 3: Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) and GCSE grade 4 ( previously C) in maths and English.

Work Experience

All full-time students are able to take 10 days work experience with a variety of employers. We work closely with 7 Core Wholesalers and City Electrical Factors along with a number of other companies.

What Next

After successful completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation you could choose to enter straight into employment or progress on to Higher Education.

If you are considering going to university after you have completed a Level 3 qualification you could choose to study at university in a wide choice of areas such as the HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or you may choose to study for a Refrigeration & Air Conditioning at degree level.
