Covid: Important Information for students

In line with the latest Government guidance, the majority of our teaching and learning will now take place online. Please read carefully the sections below which apply to you.

At the time of this update, national dated exams and on-demand exams in January will be going ahead. We will put in place Covid-secure measures. It will be for individual learners and their families to decide whether they should attend to sit their exams or not.

All Students:

We remain open for the children of key workers and vulnerable students across GIFHE (including TAG). These students will be supported at UCG only.

College transport will not be running. If you have an exam, please make other arrangements to attend. If you are having transport issues, please speak to your Programme Leader or Success Coach.

If you are having trouble accessing/logging into your Canvas or Office 365, please email [email protected].

If you have any Safeguarding concerns during this time please call 07920 860241 or email [email protected].

If you have Covid-19 symptoms such as a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or you lose your sense of smell or taste you must not attend site – this applies even if you have an exam. You need to arrange a coronavirus test as soon as possible. Further guidance is available at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/.  If you are worried about missing an exam you can contact your teacher or curriculum manager.

Those learners who do attend college must maintain social distancing at all times and use face coverings. Remember: HANDS / FACE / SPACE.

Testing:

We will be opening an asymptomatic lateral flow test centre in the Corner Lounge of the UCG. There will be no access to the Corner lounge from the UCG, it will be accessed via the external doors. Guidance on how to access this centre will be issued shortly.

Staff and Students on site will have the option to be tested in line with the current guidance. This is encouraged, but voluntary.
