On the Skegness TEC Plumbing courses you can learn at Level 2 and 3 to develop foundations and expand skills for personal and professional use.
Plumbing is a very interesting and varied career. It is a highly skilled occupation and important Construction trade, and with job growth up 8% in the East Lindsey region between 2017 and 2024, it’s a good career to go into.
It was also the second most common skill required in Construction jobs posted in 2016.
By learning at Skegness TEC, you will do modules in everything from health & safety to cold water systems, domestic gas principles to sanitation.
What you will learn
Here you will learn about healthy & safety, basic electrical components, plumbing pipe bending and soldering, plumbing science, cylinder and bathroom installation, rainwater and soil stack installation, and basic plumbing maintenance.
At Level 3, you will look at installation planning, unvented installation, underfloor heating, performance testing drainage systems, commissioning systems, environmental technologies (wind turbines/solar panels etc), sizing of pipework and central heating systems.
Level 2: GCSE in maths and English or a Level 1 in plumbing/construction.
Level 3: GCSE in maths and English and/or a Level 2 in plumbing.
All full-time students on both the Level 1 & Level 2 courses will be offered the chance of a minimum 10 day work experience opportunity. Within plumbing, we work with Jewson, Graham’s Plumbing Merchants and Plumb Center on a number of things including work experience.
After successfully completing Level 2 then you can move onto Level 3, into industry or take on an apprenticeship.
With the Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing Studies you will have all the industry standard skills to become a Professional Plumber either with a local small to medium sized business or in a large construction company.
There is also the opportunity to go on to university and study a HNC or HND in Construction. This is available at University Centre Grimsby and a number of other institutions.
