The Level 2 in Counselling Skills course is for those people with an interest in counselling and provides an introduction to understanding what counselling is. It is for those who have had no previous experience or formal training in the field of counselling.
This course provides a valuable introduction to skills which can be transferable to a range of career and educational opportunities, as it can be used alongside other qualifications or in training to provide additional skills and confidence in existing job roles, or for those wishing to start on the path to their own practice.
What you will learn
The course offers training in the skills of counselling and is structured in four key sections:
- Counselling skills and personal development
- Using counselling skills
- Introduction to counselling theories
- Diversity and ethics in the use of counselling skills
There are no formal entry requirements. However, the course is suitable for learners with interest and some awareness of this area, who want to develop their knowledge and understanding further.
How is the course assessed
Each candidate is required to maintain a reflective journal and each of the four units are assessed by a written assignment.
If you successfully achieve the ABC Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills you may be able to progress onto the ABC Level 3 Counselling Skills qualification.
