Certificate Start IT
The Certificate Start IT course offers an excellent opportunity for absolute beginners or people with limited ability to gain practical experience using a computer.
What you will learn
You will need to complete 3 units in total to achieve the Award. You need to choose 2 of the following units,
- Word Processing
- Presentation Graphics
- Internet and Email
- Database Management
- Desktop Publishing.
A further mandatory unit is required to complete your qualification called IT Fundamentals, which will help you to understand your computer and manage your files more effectively.
There are no formal entry requirements. However a tutor will discuss with each individual whether their current level of skills are appropriate to start at this Level, with an alternative course being offered where appropriate.
How is the course assessed
Assessed by a practical task which is undertaken on completion of your learning of each unit. These assessments are marked in house and subject to Internal and External verification of standards.
Certificates are awarded on successful completion.
The City and Guilds Start IT Award gives the individual a good grounding in IT skills which are a pre requisite for most employment today, you will be able to develop your skills further in specific applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel, if you are looking to gain employment in an area where these would be beneficial such as Business administration.
