Skegness TEC hosts annual Brilliance Awards

Local college Skegness TEC have hosted their Brilliance Awards to celebrate students’ success during the last academic year.

The annual celebration, held at The Storehouse in the town, sees students from every subject area collect awards in front of their family and friends, teaching staff and business leaders linked to the popular Skegness college, which is part of the TEC Partnership.

Dedicated awards cover work experience and Learner of the Year to name a few.

Mayor of Skegness, Councillor Pete Barry, was in attendance and presented the Unsung Hero Award to deserving winner Chloe James.  

Chloe, who studied Level 2 Health and Social Care said “I loved my course as I love helping people out, I enjoyed learning about the safeguarding elements of my course and keeping people safe. I am proud and grateful for this award tonight.”

The Skegness TEC Learner of the Year Award was awarded to Alex Wright, for her dedication, ambition and commitment to her learning. 

Alex, who studied Level 3 Business said: “I have loved my course and I chose it to push me out of my comfort zone and it definitely did that. I am happy to receive an award tonight, the course and the teaching staff have been great.”

Gemma Robinson, Assistant Principal and Campus Director Skegness TEC adds: The Brilliance Awards are a true celebration of the outstanding achievements of our students. This evening gives us the opportunity to thank not only the students but the employers, parents and teaching staff that have supported them throughout the year. Winning an award in recognition of hard work instils confidence and motivates students to become even more successful and we are so very proud of all our students and wish them the very best for the future.” 

Applications are still open for September, subjects include Health and Social Care, Motor Vehicle and Construction, alongside key GCSEs in English and maths for those looking to resit these key qualifications.
